Music is more than style. History has proven that as originality in music lessened style and cliques gained importance. Originality was a low priority as the last millennium ended.

Music should be an honest communication between composer and audience. The composer should shoot from the hip releasing honest emotion to the audience without getting bogged down with preconceptions or platforms.

High brow, middle class, music has always taken its influences from folk or blues - the peoples music. Why now are we influenced by street / losers music. Why is culture dictated by drug dealers, pimps and murders.

I have no problems with dance music. The Wexford Symphony is classic 4/4 time at 120 beats per minute.

I love music. I also love silence. I hate being bombarded unwillingly by music from telephones, thud thud from noisy Neanderthals and the misuse of popular classical and rock music by the media.

I produce music for an audience who's musical taste is not totally described as rock, or classical or folk. World Orchestral music encompasses all of these without fully fitting any of the above genres.

I start each piece of music by concentrating on the emotion and the subject of the composition. As I composer I never think of the music as rock, classical or jazz. The blending together of the instruments and the emotion that each level of instrumentation brings to the music is my most important consideration.

My main influences are Irish music, Mahler, Philip Glass, blues music, Stravinsky, Stockhausen Klaus Shulz, John Cage, Vivaldi and 1960s pop music.
